FM Broadcast: Celebrating Black Futures in Sport & Culture
Nike’s FM Broadcast is a YouTube episodic series analyzing the future movement of the Black community in sports and culture. Hosted by Janaya Future Khan, this series unpacks issues affecting the community through in-depth conversations with Athletes and cultural figures. Episodes focused on intersectionality, the Black & Asian solidarity, sports and activism, and the power of disruption. Among the many names who participated in these in-depth conversations were H.E.R, Naomi Osaka, Marcus Radford, Raven Saunders and others
The Goal
The goal of Nike’s FM Broadcast is to celebrate Black futures through the lens of those who are carrying the baton for a better tomorrow on, off and beyond the field. Each episode explores a specific theme that authentically tackles issues critical to Black communities “now,” while laying out a blueprint for the future.
Results & Impact
Expanding on NIKE’s sustained commitment to the Black community, FM Broadcast amassed 86 million views within the first three episodes, reaching 10 million unique viewers with over 70 million impressions. The series netted 23% of clicks across platforms, resonating best with BIPOC communities.
The initiative got Gold recognition from the Anthem Awards in their Special Projects category.
